WWE News: Mick Foley reacts to Raw contract signing segment
Last night on Raw, an intense contract signing segment took place between Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and challenger(and two-time Women’s Champion) Charlotte.
Raw General Manager Mick Foley, one of the men who made the Hell In A Cell match legendary, was there to curate the contract signing and in the segment, while Sasha and Charlotte were trash talking each other, Foley warned the two about what they were getting into.
It then turned into an emotional speech by the Hardcore Legend, which resulted in the Minneapolis crowd chanting his name. Foley took to Twitter to thank the two competitors who will be making history this coming Sunday.
Thank you @SashaBanksWWE & @MsCharlotteWWE for sharing the ring with me - 6 nights before the biggest match in #WomensWrestling history #RAW
— Mick Foley (@RealMickFoley) October 25, 2016
After Foley practically begged the women not to sign and take some years off their careers as it did his, they were adamant and signed it anyway. So the bout is set for this Sunday, in what is being termed as one-third of a “Triple Main Event”, the other two being the Universal Championship and Universal Championship Hell In A Cell matches.
It will undoubtedly be the biggest women’s wrestling match in WWE history.
Foley has always been a huge advocate for Women’s wrestling, and he seems elated about the fact that he gets to work directly with the talents he admires so much.
However, as mentioned before, Foley knows better than most, the damage that the most unforgiving structure in WWE history can do to one’s career. Him being thrown off and through the cell by Undertaker is a spectacle, and a thing of legend and the effect of the match is something he still feels.
Relive the intense contract signing segment from last night:
It truly is a new era, given that this is the second contract signing this year, which did not end up in a brawl like they almost always do. AJ Styles vs. John Cena before Money In The Bank this year did not end in a brawl either.
