WWE News: Mickie James to make history at WWE TLC 2017

Mickie James is a record breaker!

Mickie James is a record breaker!

What's the story?

If Mickie James successfully beats Alexa Bliss at TLC 2017 she'll equal Trish Stratus' number of title reigns at seven. However there's another history making record that Mickie James has set that truly puts her in a different league from every other female wrestler the WWE has ever had. Mickie James is the only woman in WWE history to compete for every women's singles championship the company has ever had.

In case you didn't know...

Mickie James is arguably one of the most successful female wrestlers in the modern age of wrestling. She's enjoyed a great five year run in the WWE where she won the WWE Woman's Championship an incredible five times and the Diva's Championship once. She then moved over to TNA in 2010 where she picked up the Knockout's Championship three times.

This made Mickie James the first woman in wrestling history to claim the WWE Woman's Championship, the WWE Diva's Championship and the TNA Knockouts Championship, and she currently holds the national record for wrestling world championships. Mickie would then return to the WWE in 2016 and is currently set to wrestle Alexa Bliss for the RAW Woman's Championship at TLC 2017.

The heart of the matter

There's no denying Mickie James' record breaking calibre, but her previous championship runs combined with Mickie's most recent WWE run have enabled the WWE superstar to make wrestling history.

Mickie James is the first and only person to compete for every women's singles championship the WWE has ever had. We've already mentioned the WWE Woman's and Diva's Championship

How did she do it? Well, during her second spell with the company Mickie has wrestled Asuka for the NXT Woman's title, competed in a Wrestlemania six-pack challenge for the SmackDown LIVE belt, and, of course, is set to wrestle Bliss for the Raw Woman's title.

What's next?

It seems that Mickie James might go down in history as the only person to do this, as the only currently signed WWE star who could match this record is Maria, who isn't actively competing in the ring at the moment. Natalya misses out as well because she never competed for the original WWE Woman's Championship.

Author's take

Mickie James truly is underrated. It's as simple as that. It can be hard to forget just how decorated she is as a wrestler and maybe Kurt Angle was right to suggest that she should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
