WWE News: Mickie James offered a new contract
We’ve got some good news for all the fans who’ve been hoping to see Mickie James on the main roster. ProWrestlingSheet reports that the WWE have offered the former Divas Champion a main roster contract.
Backstage sources have revealed that WWE and Mickie James have been in constant touch ever since she made her in-rin return to face Asuka at NXT Takeover: Toronto. The company is high on the idea of boosting the roster with the veteran superstar’s presence. All that’s left now is for her to accept the deal by signing on the dotted line.
As of this writing, there is no update on which brand she’ll be slotted into and the decision on the same will be made as soon as she confirms her availability.
Her performance against Asuka at the critically acclaimed Takeover event received rave reviews from the fans and the critics alike. This was one of the major reasons why WWE reached out to her for a full-time main contract.
If you haven’t checked out the match yet, here are the highlights from the special in Toronto in which Asuka successfully defended her strap:
Mickie James worked for TNA (where she is a former 3-time Knockouts champion) and many other indie promotions during her time away from the WWE. Here is a video of her match against TNA Hall of Famer Gail Kim for TNA:
As reported earlier, WWE had initially approached Trish Stratus for a one-time return at Takeover special, but she had to drop the proposal as she is expecting a baby. Mickie James was offered the same role and she readily accepted.
Her arrival would give the WWE the chance to book some promising feuds. A feud against Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Alexa Bliss and Asuka too when she makes the switch, would be the best way to put talents over.
Which brand would you like to see her join? RAW or SmackDown Live?
