What's the story?

Mike Kanellis hasn't been seen on WWE TV for a few weeks but he recently shared an Instagram post where he showed the WWE Universe that he has been putting the hours in at the gym and working his way back to WWE TV.

In case you didn't know...

Mike made his WWE debut at Money in the Bank back in 2017 alongside his wife Maria Kanellis who was already well-known to the WWE Universe following her stint as a backstage interviewer a few years ago.

It was reported that Mike was signed to WWE when he was in much better shape and the company was disappointed with a number of his matches because they expected him to be in much better shape when he finally made his televised debut.

This was one of the main reasons why Mike was dropped by WWE and hasn't been seen on TV for a while, but given his recent post and the fact that he has proved he is dedicated to becoming a top performer on the roster could now see him make a return to the SmackDown brand in the near future.

The heart of the matter

Ahead of a gym workout, Kanellis decided to conduct a Q&A session on Twitter where he was asked about his dream WrestleMania opponent. Incredibly, it seems that Kanellis wants to face The Viper at the biggest event of the year.

Kanellis was also asked by Tye Dillinger what he thought was the best feud that the world has ever seen and it seems that the former TNA star chose a feud between himself and Tye Dillinger.

What's next?

Fastlane is approaching and it seems that Mike isn't set to be part of the event, but he could be a last-minute addition to the undercard, which would at least allow him to be back on WWE TV. Orton obviously has much bigger plans for WrestleMania but it could be a match for WWE to think about in the future.

Author's take

Kanellis has proved that he has worked hard to be taken seriously on WWE TV and moving forward WWE might actually be able to put him into bigger storylines. It's harsh that he was dropped in the first place and since he is set to become a father in a few months time, it would make sense for Mike to return afresh in the build-up to SummerSlam instead.

Randy Orton has had some fantastic WrestleMania moments over the past few years so it's understandable that Kanellis would want to face him in the future.
