WWE News: MS Dhoni teased to be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match
What's the story?
WWE's promotional tactics can be really unrealistic at times. Nonetheless, it gets the fans talking on social media and that's exactly what happened recently when WWE asked the fans whether they would like to see MS Dhoni make a surprise entrance in the 30-man Royal Rumble match.
In case you didn't know...
Dhoni is widely considered to be one of the greatest captains in Indian cricket history. The 37-year-old led the Indian side to victories at the 2007 T-20 and the 2011 50-over World Cups and has amassed over 10,000 ODI runs over the span of a glittering 14-year career.
MSD is particularly well-known for calmly finishing off games in the limited overs format and this trait was on full display during the recently concluded tour of Australia.
The wicketkeeper scored three consecutive half-centuries and guided India to win the 3-match bilateral ODI series down under. Dhoni is currently in New Zealand along with the Indian team for the 5-match ODI series against the Black Caps.
The heart of the matter
It all began when the official Cricket World Cup handle on Twitter altered Brock Lesnar's mantra and used it in a tweet to highlight the effortless finishing capabilities of Mahi.
Heyman came up with a predictably well-worded reply and praised Dhoni before cheekily asking for royalties for using The Beast Incarnate's #EatSleepConquerRepeat catchphrase. The folks who manage WWE India's Twitter account immediately released a poll asking the fans whether they would love to see the former Indian Skipper at the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV.
What's next?
The India cricketing legend is on national duty in New Zeland as of this writing and would be looking to make a strong statement against the #3 ranked team with the World Cup right around the corner.
Indian currently lead 5-match series 1-0 with the next match scheduled to take place on January 26th. As for the Rumble, the second biggest PPV of the year will take place at Chase Field, Pheonix Arizona on January 27th.
