WWE News: Neville calls his new merch an 'atrocity'
What's the story?
Former Cruiserweight Champion and current 205 Live superstar, Neville took to Twitter and aired his displeasure about his new t-shirt design. According to him, it is an atrocity and not at the 'Neville level'. We must admit that we have to concur.
Here is the Tweet that he posted from his official account.
In case you didn't know...
'The King of the Cruiserweights' is currently in a feud with Enzo Amore, a man who won the Cruiserweight Championship at the No Mercy pay-per-view event. The feud is perhaps the most notable one in the history of the division and was featured in the main event spot during the latest episode of RAW.
Traditionally heels are not supposed to be selling merchandise, but Neville turned face in a well executed double turn during this week's RAW, and soon, this design emerged on WWE shop. Unfortunately, the King wasn't too impressed.
The heart of the matter
The central problem with the design seems to be the lack of imagination and thought that has gone into it. It is a very plain jane design, and someone entitled 'The King of the Cruiserweights' certainly deserves better.
The Tweet is also Neville playing out his 'royal' gimmick, suggesting that the design isn't good enough for royalty like him. His previous design, that of 'The Attitude Era' was significantly better. Check it out- here.
What's next?
We expect the feud between Enzo Amore and Neville to continue for a while because the division has never been in the public eye before this like it is now. There is genuine heat, something that has been missing in the Cruiserweight division, thus far.
Author's take
It is great to hear Neville speaking out in this manner. Merchandise sales are a great indicator of how important a superstar is, and let's be honest, nobody in their right mind would pick up this design. We commend his decision to let his thoughts be known!
