WWE News: New Day will induct Fabulous Freebirds into Hall of Fame
The Fabulous Freebirds will be inducted by the WWE’s top tag team, the New Day, when they enter the company’s Hall of Fame early next month, according to a release from the WWE.
The Freebirds, consisting of Michael “P.S.” Hayes, Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts and Jimmy Garvn, were the originators of the “Freebird rules” that New Day currently implements to allow all three members to defend the tag-team belts at various times. Also, the Freebirds were one of the most successful tag teams of the territory era, holding belts across various promotions of the NWA scene, in particular.
Hayes has since worked on WWE’s creative team and works with talent and producers backstage. Gordy and Roberts have both died and will be inducted posthumously, while Garvin has been largely retired from professional wrestling.
Hayes recently tweeted about his excitement regarding the ceremony.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held Saturday, April 2, with all three New Day members defending the tag titles against the League of Nations the next night at WrestleMania 32.
The Freebirds will join Sting, Big Bossman, the Godfather, Jacqueline and Stan Hansen as 2016 inductees into the Hall of Fame.
