WWE News: New RAW Tag Team Champions crowned in main event match
It was certainly a merry Christmas for Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins in Chicago, but few people saw it going down the way it did.
It all started with Dean Ambrose's injury last week. The Lunatic Fringe is out of action and after a surgery on what they thought was an elbow injury, it was discovered that half of the tendons of his triceps were torn from the bone.
This would mean Seth Rollins does not have a tag team partner at the moment. As a result, he wanted retribution on Samoa Joe for injuring his partner.
It turned out when Seth Rollins walked up to RAW General Manager Kurt Angle to request a match, Jason Jordan had the same goal. Kurt Angle said they could get a shot at the Samoan Submission Machine, but they would have to win a match as a team to deserve it.
Angle set Rollins and Jordan up in a Raw Tag Team Championship match against The Bar. The Chicago crowd was already pumped to witness the first-ever Raw on Christmas day, but they were even more excited to see this match.
After playing a little back and forth and teasing some different endings, Seth Rollins finally got the idea to ruin The Bar's plans as he played by his own rules. When Cesaro went up top to execute a double team move on Jordan, Seth Rollins grabbed his feet and kept them from pulling the move off.
Sheamus was not the legal man, so he chased Rollins around the outside and ended up eating the ring steps. By the time Cesaro showed up to hit Rollins with an uppercut it was too late because his tag team partner was already laid out.
Almost as soon as Cesaro returned to the ring, Jason Jordan hit him with his elevated neckbreaker and picked up the win. It was a shocking ending to a pretty interesting program overall. Now with Dean Ambrose out of action, it looks like Jason Jordan will be stepping into that spot as WWE hopes getting a rub from Seth Rollins will work to get him over.
