WWE News: New singles match added to NXT TakeOver: Phoenix
What's the story?
In the build-up to the first NXT TakeOver of the year, WWE has now confirmed another highly awaited singles match between Matt Riddle and Kassius Ohno for NXT TakeOver: Phoenix.
In case you didn't know...
Matt Riddle and Kassius Ohno have been going at it for quite some time now on NXT TV and at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, the so-called gatekeeper of NXT was challenged by Riddle to a singles match which the former eventually lost within 6 seconds.
The two men later competed in a rematch on 2nd January but the outcome remained the same once again, as Riddle came out victorious over Ohno for the second time in a row.
The heart of the matter
This week on WWE NXT, Kassius Ohno earned a controversial win over NXT newcomer Keith Lee and moments after his victory over the latter, it was confirmed by WWE on social media that the trilogy between Ohno and Lee will seemingly be completed at the upcoming TakeOver: Phoenix event.
The third and likely to be final bout between 'The Knockout Artist' and 'The King of Bros' guarantees to be a classic match and it'll be interesting to see if Riddle can go 3-0 up against Ohno and score a perfect clean sweep against the Independent Wrestling veteran.
What's next?
NXT TakeOver: Phoneix is shaping up to be a solid event thus far with several matches already being confirmed for the show. Below is the updated and final line-up for NXT TakeOver: Phoenix:
#1. Tommaso Ciampa vs Aleister Black - NXT Championship
#2. Shayna Baszler vs Bianca Belair - NXT Women's Championship
#3. Ricochet vs Johnny Gargano - NXT North American Championship
