WWE News: Nia Jax explains her recent WWE absence
What's the story?
The Mirror did an interview lately with WWE RAW Superstars Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss to promote their debuts in the new season of Total Divas, which they are cast members of.
Jax was questioned about her recent short hiatus from RAW during the discussion, and she used it as an opportunity to clear the air about any misconceptions about the situation.
In case you didn't know....
Nia Jax has been a key part of the WWE RAW Women's Division since she debuted on the main roster from NXT following the Brand Split and Draft in 2016.
Jax, who is a cousin of WWE Legend and blockbuster movie star The Rock, has been booked to look very dominant over the past year and a half in her matches, but she has not captured a RAW Women's Title Reign yet.
Therefore, a few weeks ago when Nia Jax did not appear on the 9th of October edition of RAW, speculation ran a muck all around the wrestling world about Nia possibly walking out on the WWE because of creative and financial frustrations.
However, the gossip seemed to be all proven hearsay as Jax returned to Raw last week, beating Bayley in a singles match and being added to the Raw Women's team at Survivor Series.
But let's find out from the Jax herself what happened....
The heart of the matter
Nia Jax, who was alongside her real-life best friend WWE RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, answered a question from The Mirror regarding her 3-week hiatus.
Jax said that she got time off from WWE live events and because WWE had nothing for her 'storyline wise' leading up to the TLC PPV, she got time off from TV too. Hence, she was given a few weeks off to 'rest' since she was not needed for the time being.
Nia seemed to downplay any rumours of her displeasure with WWE creative by proclaiming that she loves what she is doing for her career and that she loves 'storytelling'. Jax claimed it 'it's always cool' to see where 'she can go' in-ring wise because WWE and she get to take her character in a 'different' way to most other wrestlers because of her unique body size.
Jax and Bliss talked about other things in the interview, specifically about what they are like in the season of Total Divas
What's next?
Nia will be apart of Team RAW against Team SmackDown for the Women's 5-on-5 Elimination match at the Survivor Series PPV on the 19th of November at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas.
Hopefully, after that, she will get a singles feud with Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women's Championship, although that could be a TV Feud as we there is not another RAW-only PPV in the year of 2017.
Author's take
I think it was more than okay for Nia Jax to take this time off.
Considering WWE had nothing planned for her in regards to storylines leading up to the TLC PPV in October, it was a good time for Jax to get some rest from the busy schedule of professional wrestling, especially since it was rumoured she also had a back injury to heal.
However, I think WWE's creative should not have been short of any options for Nia Jax following her display in the Fatal 5-Way match at No Mercy in September, and she seemed like a more viable contender for Alexa Bliss' Title than Mickie James, who WWE had booked so poorly prior to that feud.
I would not be surprised if there was more to this hiatus than Nia Jax or WWE were letting on, but the important thing is that she is now back on Monday Night RAW.
