From the WWE Rumour Mill: Nia Jax's frustration with pay and creative direction in WWE led to leave of absence
What's the story?
To the outside observer, it might appear Nia Jax was more than happy in WWE. After all, she was a hero for those who seldom have someone to represent them. But recent reports from Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso say she was frustrated with her creative direction in WWE and how much money she was making as well.
In case you didn't know...
Nia Jax was recently the subject of 'walk-out' rumours following her absence from the October 9th Raw. Whilst it was ironically the same night Neville took a walk as well, it has since been revealed that she was granted a leave of absence from the WWE, so did not walk out. However, the reasons behind this were unknown.
The heart of the matter
To add even more to this story, Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live, that Nia Jax wanted to face Asuka at TLC and she was frustrated with her position in the company.
Now Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso reports Nia Jax was frustrated over her pay-scale and her character's creative direction. Jax has several options seeing how her cousin is The Rock and has several connections, not only through his Hollywood associates, but also his Seven Bucks Production Company which is growing in influence.
What's next
Hopefully, Nia Jax and WWE are able to come to some kind of agreement soon because at this point she is missing some great time in the ring. As mentioned, she has a considerable amount of leverage in the situation at this point. Therefore, if she does return Jax could probably expect to make more money.
Author's take
Nia Jax gained a considerable fanbase and the media has already gravitated towards her for being a brave representative for positive body image. It would be a shame if WWE and Jax weren't able to come to some sort of agreement.
As an open dialogue comes out about how happy some stars are in WWE you have to wonder what the end result of this situation is going to be. There will always be WWE Superstars and no shortage of people wanting their chance to grab a brass ring for Vince McMahon and Company. But it seems like WWE still might lose a few key players along the way.
