WWE News: No in-ring confrontation between Cena and Reigns for Raw before No Mercy

The Champ ain't gonna be here this week

What's the story?

While the internet is still abuzz following the verbal exchanges between Roman Reigns and John Cena, there won’t be any confrontations this Monday.

Wrestling Inc. reports that Cena is not booked for the final RAW before No Mercy due to a scheduling conflict.

In case you didn’t know...

Cena and Reigns’ promos have sent shockwaves through the professional wrestling world with fans trying to figure out which words are genuine and which are scripted.

Over the course of their verbal exchanges, fans say Cena has definitively looked stronger against Reigns by calling him out on facts and popular opinion while Reigns’ words have been criticized for being hypocritical and untrue.

The heart of the matter

Cena’s absence from Raw is due to his upcoming appearance on a SmackDown Live house show this Sunday Sep. 17, 2017 in Shenzen, China. RAW will be aired from the SAP Center in San Jose, California and a flight from Shenzen to San Jose will take more than 17 hours.

With no verbal confrontation to rely on, the WWE may end up taping a segment before Cena heads to China or they could have Reigns come to the ring and talk about the match on his own.

Cena’s been particularly sharp regarding these verbal exchanges and instantly fires back on Reigns’ comments, but with Cena being absent from Raw, Reigns might fare better without the 16-time Champion’s presence.

What’s next?

Tune in to Raw this Monday Sep. 18, 2017 for the final Raw before the No Mercy pay-per-view.

The last three segments with Reigns and Cena have made for great TV, so it will be interesting to see what the WWE does without Cena on the show.

Author’s Take

Reigns has been picked apart by Cena on the microphone, so this episode of Raw could be his last chance to salvage some of his credibility before he faces a potential loss.
