WWE News: No Way Jose talks about his hiatus from NXT, his goals for the future, and more
What’s the story?
During an exclusive interview with WWE.com, NXT superstar No Way Jose talked about his recent hiatus from NXT TV, the influence of Lars Sullivan in his career, and establishing his career goals.
In case you didn’t know…
During the last few months of 2017, No Way Jose disappeared from NXT TV due to him suffering a few minor injuries that forced the NXT creative team to write off the 29-year-old off the TV. Jose marked his arrival in the WWE by making his NXT debut back in 2015 and ever since then he has been seen in some memorable feuds in NXT against the likes of Eric Young, Sanity, and Austin Aries.
The heart of the matter
During his latest interaction with WWE.com, Jose spoke about a host of topics and also revealed the exact reason on why he has been not seen on NXT TV for such a long period of time. Here are some highlights from Jose’s interview:
On his brief hiatus from NXT:
Jose said that the reason why he went away from NXT is that he needed to handle some things, and face a little adversity and grow from it. However, Jose claimed that now that he is back, the most important thing from here on would be to focus on the future and move on from the past.
“The more I progressed, the more I seemed to take a step back, and I knew this was a pattern that couldn’t continue. Somewhere in there, I lost a part of me, and I knew I had to get it back.”
The influence of Lars Sullivan in his career:
According to Jose, Lars Sullivan showed him that he needed to tone back on what eventually brought him to the dance, as Jose thinks that he now has to turn-up his intensity in the ring.
“I need to tone back on the hip swivels, and I need to turn up the intensity in the ring.”
On establishing new goals upon his return to NXT:
Jose culminated the interview by stating that NXT has been growing every day with new people coming in day after day. According to Jose, his current goal will be to figure out what all these fusses are all about as he believes that he is going to show all the newest NXT signings what he is all about.
“I want to see what these new up-and-comers are all about. People like uber-popular Adam Cole, people like the ultra-unique Velveteen Dream and even people like Aleister Black. I have seen what they can do, but I know it’s time to show everyone what I am capable of."
What’s next?
Now that No Way Jose is back, we will have to wait and see what the future holds for the 29-year-old superstar in NXT and what plans the NXT management holds for Jose.
Author’s take
I believe that it is time for a change for No Way Jose. Given that Jose is a natural babyface, a heel turn could definitely work in favor of the Santo Domingo native.
