WWE News: NXT Championship match announced for Takeover: Phoenix
What's the story?
Tommaso Ciampa and Aleister Black will renew their rivalry at Takeover: Phoenix when the two men collide once again over the NXT Championship.
In case you didn't know...
Ciampa took the NXT Championship from Black ahead of Takeover: Brooklyn earlier this year, before the two men were set to collide in a triple threat match that also included Johnny Gargano in Brooklyn. This match was later amended to see Gargano and Ciampa face off in a Last Man Standing Match since Black was attacked in the parking lot of Full Sail University.
It was later revealed that Johnny Gargano was the one behind the attack which is why the two men faced off at War Games last month and seemingly left it all in the ring.
The heart of the matter
Tommaso Ciampa returned to NXT last night and talked about being the best entertainer in the world at present before he was interrupted by Aleister Black, who announced that he was cashing in his rematch clause in Phoenix. Before the two men were able to come to blows, Johnny Gargano made his way to the ring to state that he had unfinished business with Black.
The Master of The Black Mass was then seemingly manipulated into a steel cage match with Gargano as The Puppetmaster continued to control Johnny Gargano, but Johnny Wrestling rolled out of the ring to avoid a Black Mass, which left Ciampa in position to receive one instead.
What's next?
NXT Takeover: Phoenix takes place ahead of The Royal Rumble on January 26th live from Arizona and will see all NXT Championships on the line once again as the NXT roster kicks off their year on pay-per-view.
