What's the story?

NXT Superstar Rachael Evers has today confirmed that she suffered a torn ACL at the weekend, and will undergo surgery before facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

In case you didn't know...

Earlier this year, WWE signed double Mae Young Classic competitor Rachael Evers, real name Rachael Ellering - Paul Ellering's daughter.

Evers medalled in powerlifting before pursuing sports-entertainment and, at 26, already has a wealth of experience - wrestling Alexa Bliss, Ember Moon, Sonya Deville and Liv Morgan in NXT before signing with WWE officially.

Evers has previously competed as Rachael Ellering on the independent circuit but started as Rachel Evers in WWE, and now goes by Rachael Evers - a slight variation of the name she used while competing in WWE's Mae Young Classic.

The heart of the matter

Rachael Evers today took to Twitter to confirm her torn ACL, penning a heartfelt letter to the WWE Universe.

"Professional wrestling is the love of my life. My heart is at home when I'm in that ring sharing moments with you all. On Saturday night, my heart broke a little bit," Evers said, before continuing, "At our NXT show in Florida, I tore my ACL."

Evers posted the photo on crutches, confirming that she'll be undergoing surgery on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week before starting on her road to recovery and inevitably returning to the ring.

"The same passion that fueled me in the ring, will now push me to return to it," Evers said, defining the injurt as simply a challenge that she'll have to face after it ripped her away from what she believes she was born to do.
