WWE News: NXT Superstar to appear on 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown'
What's the story?
Recently signed NXT superstar Adam Cole is scheduled to appear on television travel show 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown' this coming Sunday.
The episode sees Bourdain travel to Pittsburgh and was filmed before Cole signed with WWE and NXT.
In case you didn't know...
At the climax of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, Adam Cole finally made his NXT debut. He did so by attacking new NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, aligning with Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish in the process. The faction has since been christened The Undisputed ERA.
'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown' is an American travel and food show that follows Bourdain around the world as he uncovers unique food and culture. The show is currently in its 10th season, and has seen Bourdain visit locations as diverse as Brazil, Israel, Japan and many more along the way.
The travel show premiered in 2013 with the first episode shot in Myanmar, and sees no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
The heart of the matter
The upcoming episode of 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown' will see the chef travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to uncover the culture of the Steel City. Bourdain will attend an independent wrestling show during the episode, at which point he will meet up with and interview Cole and his girlfriend, Britt Baker.
Cole and Baker will talk to Bourdain about life as independent professional wrestlers and about the highs and lows of being a freelance grappler. The episode was filmed before Cole signed with WWE of course, but WWE.com has still taken the time to promote the show on its website.
Bourdain is expected to visit Sri Lanka, Italy, Puerto Rico and other destinations in this 10th season.
What's next?
Cole might have an interview with Bourdain airing on Sunday, but the food and culture of Pittsburgh is a million miles from his mind right now.
Cole and his buddies in The Undisputed ERA are scheduled to go up against The Authors of Pain & Roderick Strong and SAnitY at NXT TakeOver: War Games, which will feature the return of the famous eponymous match.
Author's take
How apt that a professional wrestler is going to feature on a television show titled 'Parts Unknown'? That very location has been the hometown of many famous wrestlers over the years, including The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango, Demolition and The Berzerker.
The trope has long since been fazed out of WWE, but it conjures up warm memories for older members of the WWE Universe.
