WWE News: NXT Takeover more watched on the network than Summerslam

This era, in a sense, is the Network Era

The WWE Network has indeed revolutionized the way wrestling is watched. The Network has been on the receiving end of raving reviews, being compared with top networks among all fields, including Netflix. One of the beautiful things of the Network is the thousands of hours of content that it has, past and present.

It even airs Pay-Per-Views, which would ultimately cost at least over 50$. But for just $9.99, you not only get Pay-Per-Views, but must-watch shows such as NXT, Cruiserweight Classic, Monday Night Wars, and so much more. “So much more” itself is a gross understatement.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, here are the top 10 most watched WWE Network shows of the week. The first five episodes of Holy Foley were placed OnDemand after Summerslam and did well, but the real surprise is that NXT Takeover: Brooklyn was reportedly watched more than the WWE Summerslam PPV.

Here are the top 10:

1. NXT Takeover: Brooklyn

2. SummerSlam

3. NXT Takeover Brooklyn preview show

4. An episode of Holy Foley

5. SummerSlam kickoff show

6. Another episode of Holy Foley

7. Another episode of Holy Foley

8. Ride Along with Enzo & Cass & Dudleys

9. WWE 24: Women’s Revolution

10. Another episode of Holy Foley

With that being said, the WWE is discouraging people from buying Pay-Per-Views and encouraging them to subscribe to the Network, which goes to show that it is clearly a long term plan. Last year, they expanded their Network base to several countries across the globe. Perhaps with the introduction of two Pay-Per-Views a month, the price may increase with another 5-6 dollars hike, which itself is quite a bargain of a price.

One of the main reasons many subscribe to the WWE Network is for NXT. NXT has revolutionized WWE after its rebranding. It has given a new pool of talent and a whole new perspective to WWE Officials as well. NXT is now one of the hottest, most exciting products in wrestling today. It has far transcended the “developmental” stage that it is supposed to be.

As NXT has evolved, it has recruited the best talent in the world, from both the United States and around the globe. In 2014, they started live network specials known as “NXT Takeover”, and 12 Takeovers later, there has not been a single bad one. In fact, it has reached such heights of popularity, that in a certain sense, it has transcended the main roster.
