WWE News: Official WrestleMania 34 theme song announced
What’s the story?
As revealed by WWE during the Royal Rumble pay per view, the official theme song for WrestleMania 34 is ‘New Orleans’ by Kid Rock.
In case you didn’t know...
The first official theme for WrestleMania is traditionally revealed during the Rumble main show every year, and 2018 is no different with Kid Rock getting the nod for NOLA.
WWE tends to use one song throughout the April to January period for ticket release promo videos, but when it comes to the official theme, they almost always wait until the January spectacular takes place.
The heart of the matter
The song, New Orleans, was released way back in 2007 as part of the Rock n Roll Jesus album.
This is actually the second time in four years that a Kid Rock song has been chosen as the official Mania theme, with his song ‘Celebrate’ being the theme for WrestleMania 30 which was held in the same building as 34 will be.
What’s next?
As they do year in and year out, WWE will likely release three or four more official songs in order to coincide with several of the top tier matches at Mania. In terms of other WrestleMania news, it seems like it’s only a matter of time until the official announcement is made regarding the host city for WM35 next year.
For now, though, we should all be excited about the beginning of the road to WrestleMania 34.
Author’s take
While it may not be quite as strong as ‘Celebrate’, this song is perfect for the second Mania to be hosted in the Big Easy. As the Royal Rumble event continues tonight, we can’t wait to see the first few twists and turns on this oh so complicated road to the biggest show of the year.
