WWE News: Original plans for Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens on WWE RAW

Will the Roman Empire finally conquer the Kevin Owens show?

U.S. Champion, Roman Reigns, recently defeated WWE Universal Champion, Kevin Owens, via pinfall at a WWE Live event hosted in Providence, Rhode Island, last weekend. While Reigns won the match, it was noted that it was just his United States Championship on the line. A title vs. title match was planned originally for the RI Live event.

However, RAW Commissioner, Stephanie McMahon, altered the stipulation, with only Reigns defending his title.

Wrestling Pundit, Dave Meltzer, noted on Wrestling Observer Radio, that the original plan, for Monday Night Raw, was to host a bout between The Big Dog and Owens, for the U.S. title.

Interestingly enough, this week’s RAW featured, a non-title bout between the two WWE Superstars, with the stipulation that Reigns would challenge for the WWE Universal Championship if he wins the match; which he eventually did, by the end of the show.

With Roadblock, lurking around the corner, the WWE Universal title match between Reigns and Owens is now being advertised to headline the show, although no other matches have been disclosed by the WWE Officials.

Earlier this month, Ringside News, made an outrageous claim, by reporting that the match between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns for the Universal Title was originally planned for Royal Rumble. However, WWE is preponing the plan and has set the feud to culminate on Roadblock.

WWE has failed in their desperate attempts to draw positive reactions for the former Shield enforcer, Reigns. His current association with Seth Rollins also failed to get him over with the WWE Universe. Word has it that WWE might finally pull the trigger and turn Roman heel.

While how the alleged turn would happen is left to the imaginations of the fans, it would be a breath of fresh air for WWE Universe, who are tired of WWE, trying to shove Reigns down their throat.
