Paige reflected on the injury that ended everything

What's the story?

Not so long ago, Paige announced that she could no longer compete because of injuries she'd sustained during her short but highly illustrious career. She appeared on the Edge & Christian Podcast and spoke about the moment that ended it all.

Moreover, she spoke about why she had to retire from active competition. We thank FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo for the transcript of the interview.

In case you didn't know...

Even though her career was cut short, Paige remains one of the most important characters in the Women's Evolution of WWE. The first NXT Women's Champion who won the Divas Championship on her very first night, Paige will go down in the history books as one of the greatest female superstars.

Paige announced her retirement shortly after WrestleMania and was reinstated as the General Manager of SmackDown Live soon after by SmackDown Commissioner, Shane McMahon.

The heart of the matter

Paige revealed the scary moment when she realized she had been injured:

When it actually happened and the accident happened in the ring, I lost all feeling in my legs and my arms. It was literally the most terrifying experience in my life and I would never wish that upon anyone. It was so scary. I literally was like 'Oh my gosh, I'm done, I'm going to be in a wheelchair now, this is it, I've pushed myself too much.

She also revealed why she had to retire from active competition:

I feel like I pushed myself too hard to the point of where my body was like 'stop.' You know I've been doing this since I was thirteen as well and my body was like 'you need time to grow woman.

What's next?

Paige will remain on TV as an authority figure in coming weeks. She also has a movie coming up about her life. Things are finally looking up for the talented English lass.

Author's take

I was personally quite distraught when Paige had to call it a day. She lived to compete and it's a tragedy that her career was cut short.

Let's hope she can make a Daniel Bryan-like comeback someday.
