What's the story?

At the historic NXT TakeOver: New York show, Pete Dunne's legendary 685-day reign as WWE United Kingdom Champion came to an end, as 'The Bruiserweight' was defeated in an instant classic by Walter.

Dunne has now taken to social media and has finally opened up on his loss in New York City.

In case you didn't know...

Pete Dunne initially won the NXT UK Championship back in 2017 at NXT TakeOver: Chicago and throughout his legendary title reign, 'The Bruiserweight' successfully defended his title against the likes of Tyler Bate, Joe Coffey, and even Johnny Gargano as well.

The heart of the matter

'The Bruiserweight' Pete Dunne's legendary NXT UK Championship reign came to an end at TakeOver: New York, as he went toe-to-toe in a hard-hitting battle against NXT UK's newest signee, the big mighty Austrian, Walter.

Despite Walter's big title win over Dunne, the latter surely has nothing to be ashamed of given that he successfully defended the UK Championship all over the planet in some of the most well-renowned promotions around the world. And, Dunne's contribution towards the NXT UK brand has also been immense, to say the least.

Following his loss to Walter, though, the now-former NXT UK Champion took to his Instagram and reacted to his loss. Dunne let all his fans and challengers know that he certainly was in possession of the NXT UK Championship for a total of 685 days and he left his mark with a record that's extremely hard to beat.

Further, Dunne also claimed that he is now ready for the next big chapter in his career and is ready for any challenge that is thrown in his way.

What's next?

With his legendary title reign coming to an end, Pete Dunne now could very well be called up to the main roster following WrestleMania 35. However, a rematch for the NXT UK Championship is definitely imminent at this point and we surely hope to see more of 'The Bruiserweight' in NXT UK.
