WWE News: Popular NXT superstar returns to action after two months
What's the story?
The winner of the inaugural WWE Mae Young Classic, Kairi Sane has not been seen on NXT TV for a while. While no official report was forthcoming, Dave Meltzer said that she was banged up.
Thankfully, she's back in action and from the looks of it, in great form as well. Sane made a comeback at an NXT Live Event at Albany, New York.
In case you didn't know...
Kairi Sane is one of Japan's most prolific female superstars, who made an instant impression in WWE as well when she won the Mae Young Classic tournament.
Subsequently, she was seen on NXT television, where she portrayed a babyface character, and wowed audiences with her insane elbow drop.
Sane was subsequently not advertised for a bunch of tapings, possibly owing to the rumours suggesting that she had sustained some minor injuries.
The heart of the matter
All's well that ends well. Kairi Sane made her comeback at an NXT Live Event and she took on the 'Lady of NXT' Lacey Evans. She won the match with her patented elbow drop.
Judging from the comments of those in attendance, Kairi Sane showed no signs whatsoever of any wear and tear at all.
This is great news for fans of Kairi Sane, considering that she has not wrestled since NXT Takeover: WarGames, when she was part of a Fatal 4-Way match, eventually won by Ember Moon.
Welcome back, our Pirate Princess!
What's next?
We're guessing that Sane will be a big part of the tapings that follow NXT Takeover: Philadelphia. Could she commence on a new rivalry with her old nemesis, Shayna Baszler? Or could she ruffle feathers in the mid-card with performers such as The Iconic Duo instead?
Author's take
I love watching Kairi Sane in the ring. Not only is she super cute, she's unique and incredibly athletic.
I think if WWE does justice to her character and gimmick, they have a winner on their hands.
