NXT News: Popular tag team returns to action (NXT spoiler)
What's the story?
Those who attended the NXT tapings on September 14, 2017, were in for a pleasant surprise, as a crowd favourite tag team returned to the fold, one more time. TM-61 returned to Full Sail University, to much applause and much fanfare.
They were victorious in their return encounter. Here is a glimpse of the duo, right back where they belong.
In case you didn't know...
TM-61, a tag team hailing from Australia were one of the most promising acts on NXT, before a knee injury to one of the members, Shane Thorne, stopped their momentum dead in its tracks. Thorne underwent surgery and thereafter, was ruled out for 7-9 months.
This is immediately following a fabulous 2016, competing in the finals of The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament in Toronto. From the looks of it, the duo is back to reclaim their spot.
The heart of the matter
TM-61 showed up at the very start of the tapings and competed in a dark match before the crowd. They took on the heel unit of Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler and emerged victorious in the effort. The crowd was glad to see them back, and they didn't seem to have missed a step.
What's next?
The landscape of NXT has changed significantly since the time when TM-61 was around. With the departure of #DIY, there is the necessity for a team like TM-61 to step up and deliver, considering that The Street Profits and Heavy Machinery may not be ready to take up the mantle of top babyface tag team in the division.
It remains to be seen when the duo will be back on TV.
Author's take
I couldn't be happier about TM-61's return. Let's hope they get right back into the mix and bring up the work rate that's fallen after the departure of The Revival.
