What's the story?

HBO released a promotional poster for the HBO Sports documentary on the life of Andre the Giant. For the first time, a start time was also revealed on the poster.

In case you didn't know...

Andre was born in 1946 in France, and while he showed signs of gigantism in his teenage years, he was not officially diagnosed until he reached his twenties. Andre joined the then WWWF in 1973 with his debut match taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Oddly enough if you look at the poster closely, it's the same photo of Andre that I used from the WWE in the title photo of this article. The title photo was used by the WWE when announcing this year's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34.

The documentary will take a look at the life and professional wrestling career of "The Eighth Wonder of the World". It will include interviews with several prominent wrestling personalities and celebrities such as Vince McMahon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Billy Crystal, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and many more.

The executive producer of the documentary is Bill Simmons formerly of ESPN. He described Andre as "a true legend" and "the ultimate unicorn".

For the first time, the starting time of the documentary was revealed on the poster as well, and it will air HBO at 10:00 PM EST., shortly after SmackDown Live goes off the air on the USA Network.

What's next?

The premiere of the documentary is just a little less than three weeks away. It will air on HBO the Tuesday after WrestleMania on 10 April. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for any further details regarding this special.

Author's take

I cannot wait to see this documentary. I was just becoming a teenager when Andre retired, and the only footage that I have ever associated Andre with is his time in the WWE. I'm looking forward to seeing some old interviews, matches, and hear some stories that I have never heard before.
