Misfits accompanying Vampiro in WCW

What's the story?

Macho Man Randy Savage was one of the best wrestlers of all time in WWE and brought a new style of wrestling to the company.

The Misfits' Michaele Graves was interviewed recently by Michael Hodge, about the band and their time in WCW. During the interview, Graves talked about how he almost got beaten up by Macho Man Randy Savage, during the band's time in WCW.

In case you didn't know...

The Misfits formed an alliance on WCW with wrestler Vampiro. Vampiro confessed allying with the band was his idea because the company did not have a creative direction planned for him at that point. The band members performed his theme song started to interfere during his matches.

Eventually, the Misfits time with WCW came to an end because Jerry Only got legitimately hurt in a Steel Cage match he wrestled, and the band's guitarist, Doyle, falling in love with Gorgeous George, Macho Man's girlfriend at that time. Doyle and Gorgeous George would eventually marry each other, but the band's run in WCW came to an end.

The heart of the matter

Graves revealed in the interview that the band was not liked by WCW management and other WCW wrestlers.

He also confirmed that there was a backstage incident involving him, Doyle, Simon and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage over Savage's then-girlfriend and Valet, Gorgeous George. Doyle was in love with Gorgeous George, and in the backstage incident, Savage cornered Graves and Simon. Graves said that Savage was angry and drunk at that point. He went on to point out he did not blame the 'Macho Man' for being angry with them as he had every right to be.

"With my run-in with Randy Macho Man Savage, that man had every right to be pissed off the way that he was. And every right to be as scary as he was. And if he wanted to, he coulda choked the s**t outta me."

Graves said that it was all he could do to remain calm and not be terrified. He called 'Macho Man' "Mr. Man", hoping to calm the wrestler.

“I just stayed calm. I called him Mr Man. I swear to god. I said Mr Man, listen… and I just hoped for the best.”

What's next?

Graves is currently working on his Kickstarter project and releasing albums.

Author's take

It is never a good idea for non-wrestlers to become too involved in wrestling. An even worse idea is provoking the wrath of a wrestler like the Late 'Macho Man' Randy Savage.
