WWE News: Raw accepts SmackDown's challenge for tradition Survivor Series matches
SmackDown's General Manager Daniel Bryan and Commissioner Shane McMahon sent some shockwaves last week during the October 11th episode of SmackDown Live when they challenged Raw for not one, not two but three tradition Survivor Series elimination matches.
Responding to SmackDown's blockbuster pitch, the red brand of WWE Raw has accepted the challenge made by SmackDown officials and now the war is on.
As seen on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, the commissioner Stephnie McMahon revealed in a backstage segment that she is accepting the challenge laid out by her brother Shane'O’Mac.
This means that we are now going to see the top male and female stars from both brands of WWE competing with each other in 3 different traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series elimination matches at the upcoming PPV.
After this announcement, it will be interesting to see how WWE moves forward from this point as both the brands would like to send their best teams going into the PPV.
This would result in the culmination of some very exciting equations and we could see arch-rivals like Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles or Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins teaming up together to take on the teams of their rival brands.
Also, if we believe to the latest rumours, these elimination matches could lead to major changes in the roster of both brands and the winning brand could be rewarded with the opportunity to bring some of the stars from the losing brand into their show.
It's notable here that Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan issued a challenged to Raw on last week's episode of SmackDown for multiple matches at the upcoming Survivor Series PPV.
Shane and Daniel proposed that the top 5 male and female superstars from both brands should face each other in the 5-on-5 elimination match in two different bouts.
Not only that, the SmackDown officials also challenged their rival promotion to make an alliance of their 5 best tag teams to square off against the alliance of SmackDown's 5 best tag teams.
All three of these matches would be traditional Survivor Series matches, meaning that they will be elimination matches with the winning team being the one who eliminates all the members of the other team first.
It's worth noticing here that the Survivor Series PPV has a rich history of hosting such tag team elimination matches. In fact, the first Survivor Series PPV in 1987 was headlined by a 5-on-5 elimination match between the teams of long time rivals Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant.
