What's the story?

Today, Liv Morgan lights up our TV screens as a member of the heel stable- The Riott Squad. However, she owes much of her success to her primary influence growing up, WWE Hall of Famer Lita.

Morgan spoke to NorthJersey.com and revealed how she modeled herself after Lita after her father passed away as a kid. She found Lita to be a superstar that she could relate to.

In case you didn't know...

Liv Morgan has a short run in NXT as a singles performer before she was brought on to the main roster as a member of the Riott Squad, alongside Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan. She was a SmackDown Live superstar before she moved to RAW as part of the Superstar Shake-Up.

Morgan has had a long and tough road to WWE and she opened up about her life during the course of the interview with the publication.

The heart of the matter

Morgan spoke about why she felt she had an instant connection with Lita:

Watching Lita, I’d see this red-haired chick with baggy pants and sneakers, and she’s wrestling with the boys and is a tomboy. I was such a tomboy growing up. I liked baggy pants and sneakers. Even today, I wear tights and wear sneakers.

Also, Morgan went on to say that she wants young girls to feel the same way about her like she felt about Lita:

Just looking at Lita, I felt like she could be my friend. She was someone I related to. That’s all I want to do for girls growing up. I want them to see me and think, ‘Liv can be my friend.

What's next?

Lita was recently a part of the Women's Royal Rumble match. Could we see her back for a short run on RAW too? It would be fun to see her mix it up with the current crop of superstars and give them a moment to really cherish.

Author's take

I always thought Lita was great. I have my reservations about Morgan being called up far too soon, but she's growing by the week and that's always heartening.

I hope she too can reach Lita's level someday.
