WWE News: Real reason EC3 came to WWE revealed
What's the story?
It is no secret that EC3 has signed with WWE, after a long and noteworthy stint in Impact Wrestling. He was spotted at ringside, at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia.
In an interview with Newsweek, EC3 revealed the reason why he quit Impact Wrestling. We thank Ring Side News for the update.
In case you didn't know...
You may remember EC3 as Derrick Bateman from his FCW and NXT run. Those who watch Impact Wrestling are undoubtedly familiar with him. The man made his debut as the nephew of Dixie Carter.
Since then, he went on to become their World Champion a total of two times and even captured the Grand Championship on one occasion. He's still part of their weekly television because he was part of the recent round of Orlando tapings.
EC3 joined fellow Impact Wrestling superstars such as Lashley, James Storm, Laurel Van Ness and Jeremy Borash, who departed from the company in a span of days.
The heart of the matter
So, what was the reason that EC3 decided to part ways with Impact Wrestling? In his own words, he wanted to challenge himself:
My decision to leave Impact had nothing to with their business or finances and everything with me wanting to challenge myself to something new.
Leaving Impact was a very difficult decision as I had six months left on a very lucrative and talent-friendly contract. Anthem lived up to that contract and always treated me with the utmost respect as a businessman and a person.
It certainly seems like EC3 felt like the Impact Wrestling chapter of his career had come to a close. He decided to step out of his own comfort zone.
What's next?
We'll have to wait and watch a while, with regard to when EC3 will become a part of things in NXT. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda Wrestling for updates. Also, his name will contain a space (EC 3) going forward, if Takeover was any real indication.
Author's take
EC3 was the soul of Impact Wrestling, in my opinion. He was a solid worker, and his promo skills were quite exemplary indeed during his prolific Impact Wrestling run.
Let's hope he gets his due in NXT.
