WWE News: Reason behind Kalisto's injury angle revealed

Kalisto is a 2 time United States Champion

By defeating Alberto Del Rio, Kalisto became United States Champion at WWE Royal Rumble in January and has retained the championship in multiple occasions afterwards. This Sunday at WWE Extreme Rules, Kalisto will defend his Championship against another former United States Champion, Rusev. Two weeks ago, Rusev won a 20 man Battle Royal to get the opportunity to fight for United States Championship.

After his victory, the Lucha Dragons have been the target of the Bulgarian Brute. Both Sin Cara and Kalisto were taken out by Rusev. Last week on RAW, Rusev delivered a vicious kick to the back of Kalisto’s head. It seemed that Kalisto has suffered a possible injury and was removed from in-ring action for the SmackDown tapings.

Dailywrestlingnews.com reveals that the real reason behind the injury angle and Kalisto’s subsequent absence is that the WWE United States Champion Kalisto has been booked to visit Mexico to do promotional work for WWE this week. Below are some of the many clips and photos from social media:

Recently, it is rumored that Kalisto may be teamed up with a female wrestler to face Rusev and Lana in mixed tag team matches in future.
