WWE News: Reason behind the women main eventing Hell In A Cell revealed
Mick Foley announced on Facebook that WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks vs Charlotte will be the main event of Hell In A Cell. History is already being made given that it will be the first time two women will be inside Hell In A Cell.
However, Foley retracted the statement saying that it was still unsure. But the word is that it is still being planned as the main event of the show.
There is perhaps no better time for the women to main-event a Pay-Per-View. It is being reported by The 434 that the reason behind the women potentially main eventing the Pay-Per-View is for trial and to see if it does well in viewership and numbers.
If the main event draws well, then there will surely be a plan for the women to headline a bigger PPV down the road.
Another reason for the match potentially main eventing the PPV is also for WWE to showcase the fact that they are fully invested in the Women’s revolution and pushing the women.
This is something that they have definitely proven this year, in particular, when they gave in to the heavy demand and rebranded from the “Diva's” division to the Women’s division and replaced the Diva's Championship with the Women's Championship.
Now due to the brand split, there are two Women's Championships, with Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch being the respective champions.
It would be interesting to see if this turns out successful, as it would give the opportunity for them to main-event far bigger specials down the line, such as Summerslam or any other Big Four PPV. But as mentioned above, there is no time more perfect for the women to main-event a PPV than right now.
Here are the competitor’s takes on their following matches:
Firstly, the challenger, Charlotte, who is a two-time Raw Women’s Champion and recently dropped the title to Sasha Banks in the main event of Raw.
Secondly, the champion, Sasha Banks, who will be making history herself. Last year around this time, she was in the first ever Women’s Iron Man match at NXT Takeover: Respect
