WWE News: Reason Finn Balor squashed Curt Hawkins on WWE RAW
What’s the story?
Finn Balor faced Curt Hawkins earlier this week on WWE RAW and the “The Demon King” squashed Hawkins in under a minute. It was originally thought that Balor would be unfit to compete on RAW.
In case you didn’t know
Finn Balor was reportedly injured during a match against Jinder Mahal on last week’s episode of RAW. Balor took a stiff forearm from Mahal during the match and reportedly suffered from a concussion as a result of it.
Balor has just come back from a shoulder injury that had kept him out of action since the night after SummerSlam 2016 and he can’t afford another injury to derail his momentum. Balor returned on the RAW after WrestleMania to team up with Seth Rollins to face Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe.
The heart of the matter
It is being reported that Balor was put in a squash match against Hawkins because WWE officials were not completely sure whether he would pass a concussion test. With the “Demon” booked in a squash match, WWE wouldn’t have had air-time to fill in case Balor had failed his late concussion test.
What’s next?
After defeating Jinder Mahal during the Superstar Shake-Up episode of RAW, Bray Wyatt appeared on the titantron to cut a promo on Balor. As of ow, it looks like Finn’s next feud will be against the Eater of Worlds after he (Bray) is done with Randy Orton.
Author’s take
Finn Balor has been pushed hard since his main roster debut but he’s had terrible luck with injuries. Balor has what it takes to be a top star in WWE but he needs to stay fit for the foreseeable future.
