WWE News: Reason for Rusev not working WWE Live Events this weekend revealed
What's the story?
Rusev and Lana did not work in Smackdown Live this weekend, and Wrestlinginc has revealed the reason the Bulgarian Brute and Ravishing Lana were missing from the live events.
In case you didn't know...
Rusev and Lana were separated during the Superstar Shakeup, with Lana being drafted as a wrestler in the Woman's division. Lana had previously managed Rusev and played a part in his meteoric rise, as her charisma combined with his brute strength formed a formidable partnership.
When Lana announced on Instagram about their engagement, WWE did not take it too kindly and repercussions followed. This was followed by another incident when Rusev's push was hampered by having a hair cut without letting WWE know.
This time Lana and Rusev's absence from Live events do not have such serious connotations, however.
The heart of the matter
The reason for Lana and Rusev's absence was revealed by Lana on her Instagram account. In a couple of photos and videos of her in a bikini in Bulgaria, Lana tagged Total Divas. They are in Bulgaria, shooting for the reality show on WWE Network. They had her milking a cow and other "village duties".
What's next?
The trip seems to be one financed and approved of by WWE, with the Total Divas shooting, so it is expected that the duo will soon be back for Smackdown Live on Tuesday. Rusev may continue his feud with Orton, while Lana will continue mentoring Tamina.
Author's take
Possibly the funniest and best reason for being absent from the Live Shows, Lana seemed to be having the time of her life in Bulgaria, and this is definitely not any form of punishment.
The two have suffered enough for innocuous reasons and are very talented in their own right. Whether they get a push from WWE anytime soon is left to be seen, but for now, they are definitely enjoying the weekend in Rusev's home country.
