WWE News: Reason revealed as to why Bret Hart will be missing from Raw's 25th anniversary
What's the story?
Raw celebrates their 25th Anniversary on Monday Night and there will be a number of legends in attendance to mark the occasion as the show streams live from two venues in New York. It has already been reported that WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart won't be part of the event, but it seems that there is a good reason for his absence, as revealed by Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
In case you didn't know...
Bret Hart was recently reported to have been completely cleared of prostate cancer after a short battle with the illness, but it seems that 60-years-old the former WWE Champion has a number of medical conditions that are catching up to him.
There is no doubting the fact that Bret is one of the biggest legends in the history of the company and that he deserved to be in attendance at the event. Many from the WWE Universe have commented on the fact that he hasn't been announced for the show over the past few weeks, hoping that he would be a surprise late addition.
Kevin Nash was announced to be part of the show, but it seems that he was forced to pull out as well since he was advised not to travel so soon after he underwent knee surgery.
The heart of the matter
Now it seems that Bret has a legitimate medical reason as to why he won't be in New York next Monday night. Bret is reported to have a meeting on Monday with a hand surgeon in Calgary, and it is said that the surgeon is flying in from Paris to meet with the WWE Hall of Famer which meant that he was unable to reschedule.
Bret was contacted by Sue Aitchison from WWE to arrange an appearance as part of the event but Bret didn't want to cancel his meeting with the surgeon so he sent Vince McMahon a private text message to explain why he wouldn't be there.
What's next?
Even though it seems that Mick Foley, Kevin Nash and Bret Hart won't be in attendance for the event on Monday night, there are a number of other legends who have been confirmed this past week which include Trish Stratus, Chris Jericho and Christian. The event takes place on Monday Night from the Barclays Centre and the Manhattan Centre in New York.
Author's take
There is obviously no bad blood between Vince and Bret Hart anymore, so it seems that Bret has a legitimate reason not to be there. If he was expected to show up for a five-second cameo when he had been waiting to meet a surgeon for a number of months, then it is easy to see why he would choose that over an appearance. Bret has had a recent run of bad luck with illness so he probably made the right choice to concentrate on his health.
