WWE News: Reason why Rusev was not on SmackDown Live
What’s the story?
Over the past few weeks, it has been reported that Rusev will make an appearance on SmackDown Live. However, in the recent episode, the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ did not make his return. Rusev sent out a tweet to explain his absence.
Sorry #SmackDownLIVE I had to make the @PredsNHL game. See you when I see you.

In case you didn’t know...
Rusev has been out of action since his match against the Big Show at Fastlane due to a shoulder injury. However, he has recently been seen on SmackDown Live making appearances on the ‘TitanTron’ demanding that Shane McMahon gives him a WWE title match.
The heart of the matter
Rusev has been recovering from his shoulder injury and while on the path to recovery, the Superstar shakeup saw him make the move from Monday Night RAW to SmackDown Live. Since his move, the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ has made various TitanTron appearances demanding a title match at the blue brand’s exclusive PPV ‘Money In the Bank’.
It was reported that Rusev was scheduled to make his first-ever appearance in person on SmackDown Live last night. However, he wasn’t present at the show and wasn’t present on Talking Smack either.
This left fans bewildered. However, a recent tweet from him though has given us confirmation as to why he couldn’t make it. Apparently, he was too busy attending Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals of the 2017 National Hockey League Stanley Cup Finals.
What’s next?
Since Rusev was too busy watching hockey, fans can only hope to see the ‘Bulgrian Brute’ on the next episode of SmackDown Live after Backlash. If he continues on his current path, he will most probably confront Shane O’Mac and continue demanding a title match.
Author’s take
Is the reason that Rusev provided fans be real or just part of his storyline? I guess we have to wait to find out.
