WWE News: Xavier Woods didn't join the rest of The New Day in India because of UpUpDownDown
What’s the story?
The New Day were in India as part of the WWE’s promotional tour in the country, with Kofi Kingston and Big E making an appearance on a popular IPL (Indian Premier League) cricket show that was broadcast live on television.
Nevertheless, the third member of The New Day Xavier Woods was absent from the aforementioned tour because he was filming episodes of the popular YouTube show UpUpDownDown at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

In case you didn’t know...
Xavier Woods (Austin Watson) is one-third of the popular New Day tag team that also comprises Kofi Kingston and Big E. The three of them are the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history.
The heart of the matter
As previously reported, the New Day have been drafted to SmackDown Live and are set to make their blue-brand debut as soon as Kofi Kingston recovers from his ankle injury. Despite Kingston currently being in the recovery phase after undergoing surgery on his ankle, he and Big E made the trip all the way to India, in order to promote the WWE brand in the Land of the Seven Rivers.
Xavier Woods, who is a prominent part of the New Day, couldn’t join his team as he’s presently shooting episodes of UpUpDownDown alongside Ember Moon, Brennan Williams and Zack Ryder. The YouTube show is featured on the WWE Network and is primarily a gaming channel that regularly features other members of the WWE roster trying their hand at popular video games.
What’s next?
Kofi Kingston is expected to be cleared for an in-ring return by the WWE medical team in the next few weeks, following which the New Day will make their debut on SmackDown live.
Author’s take
I’m not a big follower of UpUpDownDown, given the multitude of other gaming channels that I follow, but I would’ve loved to see Woods join the rest of the New Day team in India. The trio is incredibly witty and all-out-entertainers, as proved by the exclusive New Day interview brought to fans by Sportskeeda.
Here’s hoping the next time the famous WWE team makes it to the other side of the ocean, Woods tags along. Don’t You Dare Be Sour!
