WWE News: Recently returned NXT tag team change their name

TM61 aren't TM61 anymore
TM61 aren't TM61 anymore

What's the story?

During a post-match promo on the recent episode of NXT, Shane Thorne and Nick Miller announced that they would no longer be known as TM61, but would in fact be changing their name to 'The Mighty'.

In case you didn't know...

The popular Aussie pair had been off television and away from NXT for quite some time because of injury, but recently a couple of vignettes aired, promoting their return. TM61 then returned on the post NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia edition of NXT, defeating the Ealy Brothers.

The heart of the matter

Whilst they have sometimes been known as The Mighty elsewhere, it appears that this will be an official name change for the pair as WWE.com has acknowledged it in the NXT show report they put on the website. Something that Shane Thorne also pointed out via his Twitter.

Nick Miller also weighed in on Twitter, just to cement that the name change had happened and we should definitely not call them TM61, but The Mighty from now on.

As mentioned, this isn't a huge departure from what the team were known as on the independant circuit, with The Mighty just being a shortened version of 'The Mighty Don't Kneel'.

What's next?

The Mighty look set to re-establish themselves as major players, in what is already a fairly stacked NXT Tag Team Division. We can look forward to them facing Heavy Machinery, The Street Prophets, Authors of Pain, The Undisputed ERA, SAnitY and anyone else really.

Author's take

I didn't mind TM61, but everytime I saw the name, I always wondered what it meant. The Mighty is a much clearer, much more obvious name and it's befitting for a tag-team that has the intention of being the best in the business. I personally wouldn't mind if they eventually transitioned to their old full name, 'The Mighty Don't Kneel', either.
