What's the story?

Renee Young is one of the best female broadcasters that the WWE currently has and with recent rumours suggesting that a female commentator could be set to join the team, it seems that Young is the popular choice amongst the WWE Universe.

In case you didn't know...

The Women's Revolution is in full swing right now and recent speculation suggests that WWE are about to step it up and bring in a female commentator to help as part of their matches.

The obvious choice was WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix since she was most recently part of the Mixed Match Challenge and received a lot of positive attention for her role, so much so that WWE allowed her to commentate on the Women's Battle Royal at WrestleMania as well.

Lita was also another name that the WWE Universe thought could fill the void since the WWE Hall of Fame sat behind the commentary desk last year as part of the Mae Young Classic and seemingly did a fantastic job of calling the action.

The heart of the matter

WWE has a number of both current and former female stars that they can call upon if they decide to add a woman to the commentary team, but it seems that Renee Young could have thrown her hat in the ring.

Young has a lot of experience when it comes to commentary since she was part of the NXT team for a number of months back in 2013, before she was then moved over to WWE Superstars where she partnered Tom Phillips from the summer of 2014 until the beginning of 2015 when WWE decided to move her on to hosting shows instead.

What's next?

Young already has a number of high profile roles in WWE and is the face of their pre-shows ahead of every pay-per-view, a place that she will retain in Saudi Arabia on Friday night and again at Backlash next weekend.

Author's take

Whilst it seems that Young would be a fantastic addition to the team on commentary, she already has a job with the company and a role that allows her a lot of freedom. It is unknown as to whether or not WWE would be open to allowing her to leave her position as the host of all their pre-shows so that she could be the commentator instead.

It seems that the company is comfortable with her in her current position unless there's a way for her to be available to do both.
