WWE News: Renee Young suffers possible injury

Young took to Twitter to disclose her ankle injury

WWE announcer Renee Young has been the face of the backstage announce team for a good part of two years now. She is the familiar face appearing on backstage interview segments and heading pay-per-view pre-show panels.

Ironically, the announcer who made her career out of reporting superstars’ injuries (and the segment where Vince McMahon was kayfabe arrested), has succumbed to an injury herself. On Wednesday it was revealed that Young apparently injured her ankle on Tuesday. There’s no word on how it happened, but she wrote on Twitter that she’s “pretty sure” her ankle is broken.

It is uncertain now as to how this injury will affect her appearance on the blue brand.  There’s no word if she’ll miss any TV time.

The popular Young has several jobs with the company. She remained as the event pre-show host at Battleground, and she’s set to join the cast of the sixth season of Total Divas this fall that also includes Lana and Maryse among others. Renee currently serves as a host and backstage interviewer for WWE. Her WWE Network show, Talking Smack, which airs every week after SmackDown Live on Tuesday nights.

Young signed with the WWE in October 2012 and made her on-screen debut on the 29 March 2013 episode of SmackDown, interviewing Randy Orton, Big Show and Sheamus. Young had previously performed interviews exclusively for WWE Active since February 2013 and had also presented the 2012 Survivor Series pre-show. She also co-hosted the World Tour segments, which was a segment detailing the city they were filming in, showcasing various tourist attractions, before later being promoted as a third main presenter on The JBL and Cole Show, which was shown on YouTube and WWE.com, until its cancellation in June 2015. The show also received a Slammy Award for Favorite Web Show of the Year. Renee was also seen alongside Hall of Famer Mean Gene Okerlund in WWE Vintage Collection. In April 2015, Young began hosting her own show, titled Unfiltered with Renee Young, in which she interviews fellow WWE employees, which airs on the WWE Network. Young also served as the co-host of the sixth season of Tough Enough alongside Chris Jericho.

After the draft, Renee had tweeted that she would exclusively appear on SmackDown. It even made sense as she currently lives with boyfriend Dean Ambrose and the draft would allow them to travel together.
