WWE News: Rey Mysterio to face Andrade in 2-out-of-3 Falls match on SmackDown Live
What's the story?
Rey Mysterio and Andrade have kicked off 2019 with a bang, with the two stars bringing the WWE Universe some great matches over the past few weeks. Now, we'll get to see them turn it up a notch in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match.
In case you didn't know...
Back in the summer when Mysterio was only rumored to be returning to the WWE, many wrestling fans were hoping to see the legendary luchador take on one of SmackDown's biggest acquisitions from NXT, Andrade. The former NXT Champion came up with a lot of hype surrounding him after his incredible matches against Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano.
Andrade managed to pick up a win against Rey Mysterio during a tag team match, which saw Mysterio and Mustafa Ali face off against Andrade and Samoa Joe. This past week on SmackDown Live, Mysterio faced off against Andrade in a one-on-one match, a contest that took the WWE Universe and Twitter by storm. The two superstars tore the house down, easily earning the match of the week in the WWE. Eventually, Andrade pinned Mysterio again after delivering the Hammerlock DDT to the future Hall of Famer.
This week, Mysterio gets a chance to settle the score.
The heart of the matter
WWE announced on Twitter today that the Ultimate Underdog will take on Andrade one more time on January 22nd when he faces El Idolo in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match. After what we saw in their match last week, this will be sure to surpass already high expectations.
What's next?
Andrade and Zelina Vega are looking to prove that he's superior to Mysterio on Tuesday, and another win over him could give the former NXT Champion a huge amount of momentum heading into the Royal Rumble. On SmackDown Live's go-home show, neither of these men can afford a loss.
