Indie News: Rey Mysterio WrestleMania weekend appearance announced
What’s the story?
The ever newsworthy Rey Mysterio has been announced to be appearing at a big event during the WrestleMania weekend in New Orleans.
In case you didn’t know…
Rey Mysterio has been all over the news since the very beginning of the year.
The year opened up with the news that Rey was close to signing a deal with Impact Wrestling and making his debut for the company during their early January Impact tapings.
Instead, Rey made a very surprising cameo in the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble match. Rey entered to a huge pop from the Philly crowd and he and WWE have been eager to come to terms on an official return to WWE, ever since.
Rey has also been in the news this week for becoming the new co-owner of new wrestling company Aro Lucha, as well as being pulled from his scheduled match with Jushin Liger at NJPW‘s Strong Style Evolved event in Long Beach this weekend.
Mysterio is also said to be travelling to Birmingham, Alabama later this week to see WWE doctors about his partially torn bicep ahead of potentially signing a new contract with WWE.
The heart of the matter
Rey Mysterio has officially been announced to be appearing at the huge WrestleCon convention in New Orleans during the WrestleMania weekend. Rey will be appearing for WrestleCon on Friday, 6 April.
Rey will be a major star joining the already staggering huge line-up WrestleCon has announced, such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hall of Famer Goldberg, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Mick Foley, Sting, Edge & Christian, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Ricky Steamboat, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and many more Superstars.
What’s next?
WrestleCon takes place during the WrestleMania weekend from April 6 to 8, in New Orleans.
Could we see Rey Mysterio pop up on WWE TV following the supershow? Possibly. Rey also has an upcoming UK convention appearance at Wales Comic-Con, on April 21 and 22.
Author’s take
Rey Mysterio has always been super popular and he being one of the most talked about wrestlers of 2018 thus far should have him as a very busy man during his convention appearances.
