WWE News: Ric Flair reveals how WWE should book Roman Reigns
Ric Flair is perhaps one of the most decorated wrestlers of all time. The 16 time World Champion has had an incredible career in the business spanning over four decades. The “Nature Boy” continues to be an integral part of the business with his podcast,“The Ric Flair Show”. He played an instrumental role during Charlotte’s first title run with the Women’s Championship as her mentor.
Recently, Flair revealed on his online show that he was pleased with WWE crowning Kevin Owens as the new Universal Champion. He said that Owens was a terrific in-ring worker and that he was one of the last true heels in the company. Flair heaped praise on Owens saying that he was an exceptional talent and did not rely on people’s opinion of him. Flair was also jubilant about Triple H’s return saying that Hunter raised the bar every time he appears on television.
Flair then put on his thinking hat and pondered over possible ways to book Roman Reigns. He suggested possible alternatives to shield Reigns from the persistent boos that continue to haunt him in almost every arena. Flair said that if he was put in the boots of WWE creative, then he would like to pair Roman Reigns with Owens and see how things went. He felt that both were talented workers and the matchup would result in some great in-ring action. Flair said that despite what many people believed, Reigns had proven that he could have great matches and be successful in the main event scene.
Flair also addressed the Del Rio issue saying that he was unaware of the things that played out backstage and hastened his departure. He was a big fan of Del Rio and believed that he would return to the WWE in some capacity in the future – maybe after a stint in the Indies.
Flair and his co-host Conrad Morgan also paid tribute to Mr. Fuji, remembering him for the jolly person that he was.
The podcast also featured the appearance of Haku. Flair said that Haku was a terrific performer and a really tough guy. The two fondly remembered their time on the road during the 80s and 90s when Ric would instigate Haku to drink with him and have a good time.
Flair also spoke about Haku’s feud with Glacier in WCW. He said that Haku could have ended the match with Glacier in 15 seconds but did not do so at the behest of Eric Bischoff. Bischoff felt that the feud would attract money, but in reality, despite Glacier being a great guy to work with, the feud didn't make sense.
