WWE News: Ric Flair suing management company for pocketing "30 for 30" payout
What’s the story?
Ric Flair is suing his former management company, Legacy Talent and Entertainment, for allegedly pocketing his money from his ESPN “30 for 30” documentary according to a report published by TMZ.
In case you didn’t know...
Flair’s “30 for 30” documentary aired immediately after SmackDown Live on Nov. 7 and featured interviews with Snoop Dogg, Jim Cornette, Jim Ross, Charlotte Flair, and others.
The show averaged 1.831 million viewers and was one of the best rated “30 for 30” documentaries since the December 10, 2016, episode about the 1998 college football game between the Miami Hurricanes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The heart of the matter
Ric Flair says that Legacy Talent pocketed the money the $25,000 he was expecting to receive from First Row Films, the people who produced his “30 for 30” documentary.
Flair told TMZ that he hired a lawyer to look into his finances and found out that Legacy Talent was taking his money and not giving him his cut or even informing him of the payments.
Flair also was expected to receive payment for his endorsement of Jake’s Fireworks in the form of a $12,000 royalty check but didn’t receive that money either.
Flair also said that he asked Legacy Talent why he never received his money, but was informed that the money was being used to pay legal bills; something Flair says he never authorized.
Legacy Talent represents a wide variety of people including fellow WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley.
What’s next?
Flair says that overall amount of money he is owed by Legacy Talent totals $46,000 and he will more than likely be suing for that amount.
Flair was managed by Legacy Talent since 2009 but cut ties with them in October 2017.
Author’s take
The amount of money Flair says he’s owed is nothing to play around with and maybe a big case going forward.
