WWE News: Ricochet talks about his first meeting with Rey Mysterio and his goals for NXT
What's the story?
During a recent interview on the E&C Pod of Awesomeness, new NXT North American Champion Ricochet discussed a host of topics including his first meeting with former WWE World Champion Rey Mysterio and also revealed his goals for the NXT brand as well.
In case you didn't know...
Prior to signing with the WWE in 2017, Ricochet established himself as one of the best and talented in-ring competitors of all time, having previously wrestled for promotions such as New Japan Pro Wrestling, Lucha Underground, and top Independent promotions such as PWG and Evolve Wrestling.
Following his WWE debut, Ricochet eventually went on to challenge for the NXT North American Title in the inaugural championship match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, however, the Paducah native was subsequently unable to capture the title belt.
However, at the recently concluded NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV event, Ricochet won his first championship in the WWE, as he finally won the NXT North American Title defeating Adam Cole in tremendous fashion.
The heart of the matter
While interacting with WWE legends Edge and Christian on their Pod of Awesomeness, NXT North American Champion Ricochet opened up about his first interaction with WWE legend Rey Mysterio and how Konnan seemingly tried to cause heat between the two men. (H/T: Wrestling Inc)
"I remember the first time really meeting him, I walked into the room, and Konnan's like, 'oh, here he is! This is the guy saying he's better than you.' And I was like, 'what are you doing? Like, why would you say that?' Because I didn't know Rey. I didn't know how cool he was. I was like, 'why would you say that? He probably hates me now?' But that's just Konnan." Ricochet noted, "but Rey is the coolest guy in the whole world and I'm his biggest fan."- Ricochet on his first meeting with Rey Mysterio.
In addition, Ricochet also claimed that as of right now, one of his main goals is to make NXT as big as possible and that he also doesn't mind staying in the black and yellow brand for at least two or three years.
"It's my goal to, like… I don't know how long I'm going to be here," Ricochet continued, "like, if I'm here two or three years, that's perfectly okay with me because I really honestly enjoy it here, so my goal is to make it as big as possible."

Ricochet is currently coming fresh-off a huge title win and will be looking forward to defending his title on a regular occasion in NXT. Expect to witness some big things from 'The One and Only' on WWE's developmental brand.
