WWE News: Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar brawl to open Monday Night Raw
What's the story?
Brock Lesnar arrived in Cleveland, Ohio as part of the penultimate episode of Monday Night Raw before WrestleMania but it seems that revenge was on Reigns' mind after it was announced that his temporary suspension had been lifted.
In case you didn't know...
Reigns was brutally attacked by Lesnar last week on Raw after he was handcuffed and U.S. Marshals attempted to escort him from the arena. As Reigns fought back against the Marshals, Lesnar made his way to the ring and attacked his number one contender as he remained defenseless and handcuffed.
Images were then leaked online of Reigns' wrists that were bruised after the attack that he suffered at the hands of the Universal Champion in their first collision since it was revealed that Reigns would fight Lesnar at WrestleMania.
The heart of the matter
Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman opened Monday Night Raw this week as they built up the match at WrestleMania and laughed off the fact that Reigns was attacked last week. Heyman announced that Reigns' temporary suspension was up before he unexpectedly arrived at ringside and seemingly provoked 'The Beast' into another brawl.
Once again Lesnar got the better of the attack as he used the steel steps and a chair to his advantage. The attack was seemingly over but Lesnar then came back and delivered an incredible F5 onto the steel steps to send a clear message to the man who will stand across the ring from him next weekend at WrestleMania.
What's next?
Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will be on Raw next week just six days before their collision for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34.
Author's take
Heyman stated that Reigns wouldn't be there tonight and the WWE Universe cheered, but it seems that there was a louder cheer when it was made apparent that Reigns was at ringside. It's always great to start Raw in this way and a brawl between these two heavyweights was expected. It's exciting to think of what WWE could have planned for the go-home episode of Raw next week since Roman was able to walk out of the arena tonight.
