WWE News: Roman Reigns’ last words to John Cena
What’s the Story?
The war of words between John Cena and Roman Reigns seemingly ended on the Final Raw before No Mercy, but Reigns had something to say at the WWE Live Event in Sacramento, California on Saturday.
In Case You Didn’t Know
Cena and Reigns have been at odds with each other since 2016 when the two would go back and forth on Twitter regarding various comments the other made. The feud cooled off for much of 2017 but commenced again when Cena returned to Monday Night Raw following the SummerSlam pay-per-view.
The buildup to their match has been entirely verbal with many fans saying Cena has gotten the better of Reigns in each exchange they’ve had.
The Heart of the Matter
Before his match with Bray Wyatt this past Saturday, Reigns came down to the ring for his entrance as usual but told the fans that the game will change when he faces Cena at No Mercy.
Betting odds from Bet Wrestling have Reigns favored to defeat Cena, but some fans are suggesting that Cena could win the match in order to get more matches out of both men for a long-term program.
The belief is that Reigns winning after all that was said and done would be an anti-climatic way of ending the program and that having him lose one match and winning the rematch would be the better outcome. However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter believes this program will end in Reigns victory because making him the undisputed top guy is still the WWE’s main goal.
What’s Next?
Tune in to No Mercy to see who comes out on top in this “WrestleMania caliber” showdown between The Face That Runs the Place and The Big Dog.
Cena is rumored to leave WWE after No Mercy to film his upcoming Transformers movie, so this could be the last we see of the 16-time World Champion.
Author’s Take
Reigns last words to Cena were short and sweet and that’s probably because both men have said everything under the sun about each other.
Nothing left now except the fight.
