WWE News: Roman Reigns on if he's affected by fans booing him, reason behind their boos
What’s the story?
On an edition of Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Roman Reigns opened up on a myriad of topics.
Reigns weighed in on whether he’s affected by constantly being booed by the fans despite him being a babyface. Besides, Reigns also spoke about why certain sections of fans boo him.
In case you didn’t know…
Roman Reigns has been considered to be the face of WWE over the past few years, particularly in light of longtime promotional flag-bearer John Cena assuming a part-time role in WWE owing to a blossoming Hollywood career.
Nevertheless, certain fans and experts have been considerably vocal about their displeasure regarding the WWE pushing Reigns as an invincible character, much like Cena was booked for the majority of his run as the face of WWE.
The heart of the matter
Roman Reigns explained whether he’s distracted by the fans constantly booing him; stating—
"I think there is a lot of different things you can chalk it up to I'm sure…In life, everyone wants to see you do good, but not too good, you know what I mean? Once you pass that threshold of doing really well for major success, then I think the questions, possible jealousy come out and that is when negativity starts showing its face, but if you are strong in your convictions and know who you are, you have to be bulletproof to that."
Furthermore, Reigns emphasized that be it cheers or boos, the reaction he elicits from the fans is indeed a very strong one, which in turn is a positive in the sports-entertainment business.
Additionally, Reigns also opined that a possible reason behind certain fans booing him could be the way he carries himself or the way he talks. Reigns pointed out that even before rising to prominence as a WWE Superstar, he’s always been the kind of person whom you’d either like or dislike—no gray area whatsoever with him.
What’s next?
Roman Reigns faces WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for the latter’s title at WrestleMania 34 which takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8th.
Author’s take
Roman Reigns seems to be spot-on in his analysis as to why a few fans choose to viciously boo him.
Kudos to Reigns for speaking out on this hot topic of contention, and shutting down people who choose to direct negativity towards “The Big Dog”.
