What's the story?

On screen, they are at odds for possession of the WWE Universal Championship. However, off-screen, Roman Reigns is supportive of Brock Lesnar's potential return to UFC.

Reigns spoke to the Daily Express during the recent WWE European tour. I thank Wrestling Inc. for the quote.

In case you didn't know...

Roman Reigns won the Elimination Chamber match and earned an opportunity to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34. He was unsuccessful at winning the Universal Championship at WrestleMania and went on to face Lesnar in a rematch at the Greatest Royal Rumble. While the outcome was mired in controversy, Reigns was unsuccessful yet again.

There have been many rumours about a potential return to UFC when Lesnar's contract expires. Lesnar is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion who earned a $2.5 million purse for his last fight, which was a record at the time.

The heart of the matter

Roman Reigns weighed in on Lesnar's return to UFC:

We saw what he did last time, his last fight was (against) Mark Hunt, I believe, and he looked great. At his age, he's not getting any younger, so I think this is the time to pull the trigger when it comes to that.

Moreover, Reigns expressed his complete support to Lesnar for his return to the Octagon:

It's important that WWE superstars are successful in other genres of entertainment. I support him fully in what he does, and it's pretty neat to be able to watch him going to the Octagon after wrestling.

What's next?

Roman Reigns is currently in a feud with Jinder Mahal. The Universal Championship is not on television, at this very moment. One wonders if Reigns will be Lesnar's next opponent.

Author's take

Lesnar is a beast and will continue his reign of dominance wherever he goes. I'm just a little surprised that Reigns was so eager to break character and express his wholehearted support.

The age of kayfabe is dead!
