WWE News: Roman Reigns thinks The Shield was broken up too soon
What’s the story?
On a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho, Roman Reigns said that The Shield should have had a longer babyface run to make the eventual break-up more impactful.
In case you didn’t know...
The group debuted on November 18, 2012, at Survivor Series when they helped CM Punk retain the WWE Championship by giving Ryback a triple powerbomb through the announce table.

The group split on June 2, 2014, when Seth Rollins turned his back on Reigns and Dean Ambrose to side with Triple H and The Authority.
The heart of the matter
Reigns explain how the babyface run would have made for a better story with the following quote:
"for them to really care about our breakup, they need to love us and I thought that we were going to have the ability to make them love us. And we hoped we could change our characters a little bit. The way we broke up and how early it was and then just the way it went, we weren't able to do that."
If the Shield had more character development, what would have happened to the career of Roman Reigns? It’s an interesting question, to say the least.
What’s next?
Currently, all three members of The Shield are on Monday Night Raw (Smackdown LIVE hasn’t aired at the time of this writing). While Ambrose currently doesn’t have a feud, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are set to face Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe, respectively, at WWE Payback.
Author’s take
I agree that The Shield disbanded too soon. My guess is that Vince McMahon hastened the break-up because he wanted to push Roman Reigns as the top babyface.
Nearly three years after Rollins turned, the fans are still clamouring for a Shield reunion. As long as neither Reigns nor Rollins moves to SmackDown LIVE, there is every possibility that it will happen.
