WWE News: Roman Reigns unveils his two favorite matches in WWE

The Big Dog will be out of action for a few weeks after a storyline injury

What’s the story?

Roman Reigns, who was on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast a few weeks ago, revealed his two favourite matches in the WWE in his near-5 year tenure on the main roster.

In case you didn’t know...

Roman Reigns has been a part of WWE’s main roster since November 2012, when he debuted alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose at Survivor Series. Less than two years later, he would split from his Shield members and move on to a singles run.

Roman Reigns has been termed by fans as the “golden boy” of the company and has gotten a major push as a singles star, main eventing three straight Wrestlemanias and winning 3 World Championships.

The main problem WWE has faced with pushing Reigns as their next top star is that fans have rejected him more as time has passed. He gets reactions that even heels don’t get. Regardless, this hasn’t stopped the promotion from pushing The Big Dog more and more.

The heart of the matter

When asked about his two favourite matches, The Big Dog explained that his WrestleMania 32 main event against Triple H and his Extreme Rules Last Man Standing match against Big Show were his two favourites.

The biggest one of them all for me would have to be with [Triple] H. Yeah, man, being in the ring with him, and that’s another guy that kind of feels like how it is with The Undertaker, but one I enjoyed, and was really rocking, was with Big Show.

With regards to his match against The Big Show, he said:

“We had that Last Man Standing match in Chicago and it was… Man, it was such a dope match. Like, really cool bumps, and really cool moments, and he’s so good, and it’s so easy with him.”

Despite the criticism that Reigns gets for his mic skills, he has been praised as a solid in-ring performer who consistently puts on good matches.

What’s next?

Roman Reigns will be out of action after a storyline injury from Braun Strowman for a few weeks. It is not known as yet whether he will wrestle at Payback, but he is expected to face Braun Strowman on Pay-Per-View very soon in either an ambulance match or stretcher match.

Author’s take

Roman Reigns is undoubtedly a solid in-ring worker who has put on consistently great matches no matter what people say. From a fan perspective, the WrestleMania 32  main event was completely lacklustre due to fan’s rejecting it, and that could be seen during the live audience’s apathy for the match.

With regards to the match with the Big Show, that was an unexpected classic. Reigns has tremendously improved as a performer and is yet to hit his prime. It will be interesting to see how the perception of Reigns changes as he continues to improve and impress in the ring.
