WWE News: Roman Reigns was there backstage at last night's RAW

Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman are currently locked in a feud till their match at Payback

What’s the story?

Roman Reigns was there backstage at last night’s RAW but never showed up in front of the audience, even after the show went off the air.

In case you didn’t know...

Roman Reigns lost his brother Matt ‘Rosey’ Anoa’i last week and had the weekend off from WWE programming to attend the funeral.

When we last saw Roman, he was being carried away by EMT after being attacked by Braun Strowman who took the fight backstage. Strowman wasn’t satisfied with just flipping over Reign’s stretcher with him in it; the Monster Among Men proceeded to lift the entire ambulance that Reigns was in and turn it over on its side.

The heart of the matter:

After coming back from Rosey’s funeral, Roman Reigns was reportedly present backstage during Monday’s RAW telecast but never made an appearance in front of the audience, not even for a dark segment.

Reigns is clearly heartbroken after his brother’s untimely demise and WWE management chose to keep him off the show for this week before he faces Braun Strowman at Payback on Sunday.

What’s next?

Roman Reigns will appear on Payback to square things off with his attacker Braun Strowman this Sunday, a match that WWE has been setting up for a few weeks.

The match was initially rumoured to be a stretcher match but it was never confirmed by WWE. The match should be an interesting one no matter what the stipulations are.

Author’s take

Roman Reigns has had a good babyface run on RAW since The Shield broke up but maybe it is time to have him do a heel turn, as many fans and peers will agree.

Having him against Braun’s Monster character was a desperate attempt, in my opinion, to have Reigns get over with the fans but it has clearly backfired with the fans cheering on Braun throughout their segments.
